2018 was another successful year for the Clean Futures Fund stray population management program, Dogs of Chernobyl.

We will be returning for Dogs of Chernobyl 2019 in June, with SPCA International, to continue our efforts to take care of the stray descendants of dogs and cats abandoned in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone during the evacuation of 1986. Our efforts to spay/neuter these animals is a humane solution to managing the population, and since our intervention in 2017 no healthy animals have been killed. The vaccinations and health checks keep the population healthy and minimizes the public health threat from rabies, which had been prevalent in the area. We also continue to support the local residents in their efforts to feed and take care of the dogs and cats with help from Nestle Purina.
